Neolytica Launches Pilot Program, Names Executives With the Support of Four Industry Leaders
Outsourcing Analytical Testing Services Made Easier and More Cost-Effective With the Launch of Neolytica
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (USA) - March 13, 2002
Neolytica (www.neolytica.com), a single point of contact for outsourcing and contracting analytical testing services, today announced the launch of its pilot program. The company also named Steve Gregory chief operating officer and Simon Kaalman acting chief technology officer. Gregory brings more than 20 years experience in the analytical services field to Neolytica. Kaalman adds more than 10 years of experience delivering laboratory automation solutions to Fortune 500 clients from his current role as Vice President of Thermo LabSystems.
Founded by Air Products, The Dow Chemical Company, Intertek Testing Services and Thermo LabSystems, Neolytica enables customers to improve business performance through cost reduction, more efficient resource allocation and effective data management. The Web-enabled company will provide customers with a single point of contact for outsourcing and contracting analytical testing services and information management. Neolytica also serves as an application service provider (ASP) for laboratory information management systems (LIMS), based on Thermo LabSystems' NautilusTM LIMS product. Neolytica's founders have aggressively researched and analyzed the market over the past two years, in an effort to develop the highest quality tools and services to address the needs of the analytical services industry.
Gregory sees significant growth potential for a reputable and comprehensive outsourcing solution like Neolytica amid the $100 billion analytical services industry. "Nearly $10 billion in analytical services are outsourced every year with continuing annual growth expected at more than 20 percent, creating a real need for high quality outsourcing options," said Gregory. "Neolytica enables customers to better leverage capital, equipment and personnel by providing complete analytical testing services and solutions that allow customers to focus on core competencies and reduce costs."
Neolytica is implementing best-in-class technology to provide customers with a high level of security, reliability and accuracy. "We have partnered with leaders in information technology to assist our customers in streamlining the supply chain and to reduce costs in the process," said Kaalman. "Customers more effectively manage data and align information technology resources with the standardized data formats offered through our LIMS ASP system."
Throughout the pilot period, Neolytica will focus on testing and enhancing the site's initial functionality, specifically targeting transactional and problem solving capabilities, order and information tracking through the LIMS system, lab qualification services and utilization of the Web site. Functionality additions and enhancements, as well as further expansion of the supplier network, are planned leading up to the company's operational launch in the first half of 2002.
Participants in the pilot launch of Neolytica include two of the company's founders: Air Products and The Dow Chemical Company. John Sadowski, Director of Corporate Research Services at Air Products, sees the potential in Neolytica to streamline its outsourced analytical testing needs for industrial gases and chemicals applications. "Neolytica could significantly reduce the work involved in outsourcing. Finding the right lab, qualifying their services, and effectively managing the project can be extremely expensive and time consuming, especially if multiple suppliers are involved. With Neolytica, all of these outsourcing functions are taken care of."
Several member laboratories, including ITS Caleb-Brett, one of Neolytica's founders, and Impact Analytical, have signed on for Neolytica's pilot program. Impact Analytical views Neolytica as an avenue to increased exposure in the marketplace. "I anticipate that the lower costs and networking opportunities that Neolytica offers will enable us to increase our profit potential and revenue stream, enhance our buying power and reduce customer acquisition costs," said Andrew Wood, Laboratory Manager. "All of these factors will drive our business to a new level."
Initially, Neolytica will serve customers in the chemicals, industrial gases, petrochemicals, plastics and consumer packaged goods industries. Additional areas of focus include metals, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, electronics, and biotech.
